This is true. The front page is attached to the old forum. This will be fixed eventually.
Getting a lot of emails...Some people have complained about unwanted emails. Every forum I've ever been on signs you up for email notification of replies to any thread you've created or posted in. That pkaus never did always seemed
broken to me. The new forum works as all other forums do.
If you want to change this, you can set the option in your
profile:- Profile
- Notifications and Email
- Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.
Finding new posts:The new forum has a great 'unread posts since last visit' feature. You'll find it at the top right corner, under your name.
Avatars:The new forum is much smarter about avatars than the old one was. It will actually check the size of your avatar when you set it up, and not allow over-sized avatars to be used. Unfortunately it seems the server is missing a feature to do this gracefully and the avatar's actual size is currently being ignored. I'm working on it.
Missing threads:The old forum's database was in a bad state. Converting it to the new one took a long time, and there were some hiccups along the way. Pretty much everything survived the transition, but the first thing I did was do a massive database cleanup, and that nuked any threads with bad data in 'em. Sadly this included some really great threads. If you notice an important one missing, shoot me a PM and I'll try to resurrect it.
Regional Sub-Forums:V-Ray asks if she's supposed to be able to see the regional sub-forums for all regions. Yes, yes you are V-Ray.
Forum colours:Some people might dislike the new forum design, colours, fonts or whatever. Sadly there have been major changes and we're not going back to the old design. That said, the forum is in a state of flux and I expect there will be more changes ahead, perhaps including new colours, skins, features and whatever else. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
Youtube embedding:I'm working on it. =)
